Postgraduate study



Students may be supervised solely by the School staff or may enrol with joint supervision from staff of other University departments or of other tertiary institutions.

In research courses, students work closely with an expert supervisor on a specific research topic to produce a dissertation of significant academic originality.

Study options

The School's Higher Degree by Research program is strongly supported and popular, with over 95 students currently engaged in research topics in medicine and pharmacology across the four campuses at Fremantle Hospital, Royal Perth Hospital, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, and Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre.

A higher degree by Research Preliminary is recommended for prospective students without previous research training.
