This certificate program is linked to workplace training and practice to bring graduates of pharmacy degrees in Australia to a high level of advanced professional competence in Pharmacy Practice.
Course outline
The Graduate Certificate in Pharmacy Practice comprises four 6-point units to a total value of 24 points.
The first two units (Applied Pharmacy Practice 1 and Applied Pharmacy Practice 2) provide the formalised post-pharmacy degree training (Intern Training Program) required by the Pharmacy Board of Australia for registration to practise pharmacy in Australia.
The subsequent two units build on this foundation to provide a higher level of training and professionalism to bring pharmacists to an advanced level of professional competence in Pharmacy Practice.
Admission requirements
- A Master of Pharmacy degree from a university that has a provisional or full accreditation from the Australian Pharmacy Council in Australia and New Zealand, or
- equivalent as recognised by the Faculty, or
- a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from a university that has a provisional or full accreditation from the Australian Pharmacy Council in Australia and New Zealand, or
- equivalent as recognised by the Faculty
and for international applicants, successful completion of the Australian Pharmacy Council’s skills assessment for overseas (international) applicants.
Applicants must hold provisional registration as a pharmacist and have a supervised practice position and preceptor approved by the Pharmacy Board of Australia on commencement of the course.
English Language Competence
All applicants for UWA coursework programs must demonstrate a minimum level of English Language Competence.
